Almost 300 En Pointe Patrons and Foundation supporters flocked together in November for a film evening unlike any other in New Zealand and in doing do raised money for the fund that provides long-term stability for ballet in Aotearoa New Zealand.

The 2019 production of Matthew Bourne’s iconic ballet, known for its legendary male swans and brilliant choreography and set to the much-loved Tchaikovsky score, screened in both Auckland and Wellington.

Preceding each screening, the Foundation’s guests watched a short documentary on the making of the ballet, including interviews with Sir Matthew Bourne and the original Swan/Stranger Adam Cooper, to help understand its now legendary status in the Swan Lake canon.

Aside from being immensely enjoyable, the events were a fundraising success, contributing an additional $6,000 to the Foundation’s sustainable fund.
